Description
ZF IWC Portugieser Automatic 40mm IW358313
ZF achieves the most accurate sub-dial placement and structural proportions for the modern 40mm Portugieser architecture.
Powered by Custom 82200 Clone
The custom 82200 automatic movement is engineered to replicate the visual layout of IWC’s modern caliber. The bridges and plates are decorated with perlage and côtes de Genève finishing, visible through the sapphire caseback. Crucially, this movement architecture allows the small seconds pinion to sit at the correct height and distance from the central axis, avoiding the sunken sub-dial flaw common in lower-tier replicas.
Standard clone base regulation: ±10–15 s/day.
- ✅ Power Reserve: Approximately 36 hours
- ✅ Complications: Small seconds at 6 o’clock
- ✅ Winding Direction: Bidirectional
Technical Specifications
The 40.4mm case is meticulously machined with polished lugs and a polished bezel, contrasting sharply with the vertically brushed mid-case. Lug curvature closely mimics the genuine profile.
Features three-dimensional applied Arabic numerals and feuille (willow) hands. The small seconds dial at 6 o’clock is decorated with a fine concentric record pattern.
The ultra-thin polished bezel maximizes the dial aperture, giving the watch a larger visual footprint characteristic of the Portugieser line.
Supplied on a standard factory leather strap equipped with a well-machined 316L steel deployant clasp featuring accurate IWC engravings.
Why ZF for This Reference?
Many collectors ask: “Why not YLF?”
While YLF produces a competing Portugieser, ZF remains the definitive choice due to the precise dimensional accuracy of the dial layout. ZF correctly matches the distance between the central hands and the small seconds sub-dial to the genuine 82200 caliber, whereas rival factories often display a noticeable discrepancy in pinion spacing.
Full Disclosure: The clone 82200 movement can exhibit noticeable rotor bearing noise in quiet environments. Additionally, the factory-supplied leather strap is rigid out of the box; most collectors opt to install a premium aftermarket strap to match the high quality of the watch head.

Collector Q&A
Q: Does the small seconds dial spacing match the genuine IW358313?
A: Yes, ZF has corrected the pinion spacing issues found in earlier replica iterations. The distance between the central hands and the 6 o’clock sub-dial is 1:1 with the genuine caliber 82200 architecture.
Q: Is the pink dial color accurate to the retail release?
A: The salmon-pink tone is highly accurate under natural light, though it may appear slightly more saturated under harsh artificial LED lighting compared to the genuine sunburst finish.
Q: Will the deployant clasp fit standard aftermarket straps?
A: Yes, the ZF deployant clasp is designed to standard 20mm lug width tapering down to 18mm, allowing easy installation of premium aftermarket leather straps.
Q: Is the movement noisy during daily wear?
A: The custom 82200 clone movement exhibits slightly more rotor bearing noise than the genuine IWC Pellaton winding system. A standard micro-lubrication service by a watchsmith can significantly reduce this audible feedback.
